RWDI full-build sound strategy complete — compliant at all 22 nearby homes

RWDI, the independent APEGA-permitted acoustical engineers behind AHI’s sound commitments, has completed the full-build sound strategy for the campus. The modelling predicts compliance with Alberta Utilities Commission Rule 012 at all 22 nearby homes — day and night.

At the nearest residence the campus’s night-time contribution is modelled at roughly 31–34 dBA — under Alberta’s 40–45 dBA night-time limits and quieter than a library. The as-built design goes further than the modelled design, adding precast concrete and sound walls.

The program is led on AHI’s side by Lionstooth Energy with RWDI, coordinated by M3 Development Management. Sound compliance was a condition of the County’s approval and has been engineered in since day one.

AHI’s commitment does not end with a model. Third-party studies continue through every phase, and real-world noise will be measured at 10 MW and again at 30 MW, with the design adapted before growing further. Neighbours can try the distance sound slider on the Community Information page.
